The sealant sold in all hardware stores & has a sealant life of 6 months to 1 year.( if you're lucky) Then the sealant cracks and gutters leak. Is It Worth Investing In Aluminum Gutters From Home Improvement Stores?
4 inch gutters are the smallest gutters made. At BBB we use 5 inch gutters which are used primarily for homes. There are 6 inch gutters used for churches & buildings that we don't have. Below is another good reason not to invest in cheap gutters from local home Do-It-Yourself stores. All Photos NOT installed by BBB, but used as an example low end gutters.

You can see the rain is coming and the gutters don't reach the end of the house. Take a look at the downspout elbows, they are not installed professionally and are falling apart.

Installed with hidden hangers which
is a good idea, but local hardware stores just don't have the materials for a
professional job. Once again, every 10 feet the gutter is joined with a seam
(which leaks most all the time) A-Elbows are coming apart without proper
install. Sealant sold in home improvement stores last a few months then cracks,
so gutters leak in just a few months after installation.

If you have Miter turns and you remove the gutters, they need to be replaced and re-sealed. It is NOT our practice to use nails for installation as the high winds will loosen them up and the gutters will fall down. Especially In Orange County, CA. we get the Santa Ana Winds which rip through the canyon area & through Anaheim Hills, Orange Hills areas. Winds are really hard on gutters, then when you add nails, the gutters can pull loose from the facia board and fall down.
