Ricky Wells Finishes 2008
2nd Place US Speedway Nationals

At Age 17, Ricky Wells Has Become One Of The Top Speedway
Riders
In The US. One Spot Away From Becoming The Youngest Rider Ever To
Win A National Championship This Year. From The First Time Bumblebee
Saw Ricky Ride As A Jr. Rider, He Knew This Kid Not Only Will Win Many
US Titles, But Is Destined To Become Our Next US World Champion. We Are
Blessed (Lucky) To Have Ricky Ride Locally As He Has A Bright Future
Overseas.
Winner Of 2 Under 21 Titles So Far At Age 17, Ricky Is Odds On Leader To Set
A Record In Under 21 Titles, As He Did With Jr. Speedway Titles. He Quit
Competing As He Got Older Because The Thrill Of Competition Was Gone. I Know
Some Say I'm Crazy, But This Kid Will Become The Greatest Rider Ever In US
History As He Remains Healthy And Focused. The Greatest Young US Rider Of
Our Time And Future Greatest Of Speedway, Ricky Wells

BUMBLEBEE 2008 USA SPEEDWAY
SUPPORT POINTS CHAMPION

INDUSTRY HILLS, CA
After a season of ups and downs, the season finally came
to a end at Industry Hills.
It was a great way to end the season by winning the Overall Points
Championship in Support Class.
Always great riders who compete and somehow things just
turned out good for The Bumblebee,
winning his first Points Championship Ever at Industry Hills in LA
California. He also won Best Pairs
Championship in 2008 at Victorville. For a total of two championships this
year and a record number
of main event victories with seven.
2007 was also a great year, he won three championships:
Best Pairs at Victorville, Track Champion at
Industry Hills, and Overall Points Champion at Victorville. It's been a
wonderful run, thinking of retiring
at the end of the season, but nothing is positive so far. Just wanted to
say, "Thank You for all your support".
There are so many great people The Bumblebee has had the chance to meet and
enjoy company with these
past several seasons.... The people you meet, the friends, and the memories
is what we all take with us when it is over.
Always striving my best, and never wanting to offend anyone. What a time,
what memories I will hold dear to my heart
forever. Thanks to the Speedway fans, Riders, Promoters, for everything.
Thanks for all your love & support.

Bumblebee Support Main Event Victory @ Industry Hills
Speedway
August 6, 2008
After about a month of not being on the podium, and two
second place finishes at Industry Hills Support Main, Bryan "Bumblebee"
Buffington win Support Main Event at The Grand, Industry Hills, CA
Perhaps the best part of the evening was NOT the support main event victory,
it was the first race of the night starting from the 80 yard line!
That's right. Since there were so many riders in each
of the two support races, I was told to go
back to the 10 yard line. Then moved to the 20. Thinking why not the
80!!!??? For fun and a challenge
moved back to the wall near the pit gates, backed up against it, and
prepared for blast off. A 3rd place
finish with 6 riders never felt so good. What a hoot and a fun ride ever.
The Support Main Event was perhaps one of the best, and
stacked main events all season. The top riders
entering the main was of course Rudy Laurer, and Marvin Sonier. Marvin beat
the bee in the first two races. And Rudy won both of his as well. Due to so
many riders in the main (6) The high point riders were
pushed back to the 10 yard line by someone. Also in the race was Rattlesnake
Bowen, the young Harmie,
Eloy M. who is riding D-1 most all season and doing very well. A very good
field for sure and hard race to win. Bee got the pole and made some
adjustment to the bike which worked in the main. Leading the race
from start to finish with a push by young Harmie, just returning from injury
and a fine ride. Bee went on for victory and a happy win.

Another Support
Main Event, His 3rd In The Last 3 Weeks At The World Famous Bullring At
Costa Mesa Speedway.
His Best Streak Before Was Two Mains In A Row. It Was A Hard Fought Battle
All Night Long.
In The Main, Rick Farron Was Riding Fast & Smooth, Along With The Always
Steady & Fast
Billy Braden. Bumblebee Team Mate Steve Dziadus Made His First
Support Main Event Of
2008 With Good Rides To Get The Main, Congrats Steve!
Farron Rode Extremely Hard Trying To Pass Bumblebee, But Everytime Farron
Made Contact He Lost
Ground. (A Hint, Do Not Try And Pass The Bumblebee By Dislodging Him, Go
Around Or Under Him,
But Not Through Him) It Was A Great Ride By All, And Bumblebee Came Out The
Victor.

Year With Russell Green.

Winning His First Two Races Of The Evening, Bumblebee
Had Gate 3 In The Main. Steve Bowen,
Bumblebee Team Mate Dylan Black, Kim Stevens Also Lined Up In The Main. The
First Race Was A
Re-Start As Black Had To Lay His Bike Down For Stevens. Meanwhile Bumblebee
Had Just Passed
Bowen For The Lead. On The Re-Start Much The Same, Bowen Jumped Out To
The Early Lead From
The Pole, While Bumblebee Waited Patiently Just Behind Him With Pressure.
Bowen Made A Slight
Bobble, And Bumblebee Snuck Under Him For The Position & Lead. Once With The
Lead, The Bee
Continued To Gain Ground, Finally Pulling Away From The Field For His 5th
Main Event Win Of 2008.
Bee Team Mate Dylan Black Was Third Place Behind Bowen And Bumblebee. 16
Year Old Black
Has Made Every Main Event He Has Rode Since He Moved Up From The Jr. Ranks

Hugh Randolph, 76, rides motorcycles for fun after
retiring from the L.A. fire department.
Tuesday, June 24, 2008 |
Retiree, 76, takes his chances racing motorcycles without
brakes
By DAMIAN DOTTORE
THE ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER
When some people retire, they dream of one day shooting
their age on a golf course. But Hugh Randolph would rather
try to speed past his, racing on a motorcycle that doesn't
have any brakes.
And with each lap, the 76-year-old Newport Beach resident,
is getting closer to doing just that, recently winning a
consolation main event at the Orange County Fairgrounds in
Costa Mesa. And he led every lap.
"That was a big thrill," Randolph said. "I got a big
standing ovation. Let me tell you that helped my ego a bit
there."
The former Los Angeles Fire Department captain has become a
regular this year at The Grand Arena during the Wednesday
night Speedway Series in Industry Hills. Last week during
rider introductions he brought fans to their feet again. Not
even Charlie Venegas, the guy who has dominated the series'
top division at the track, got that type of welcome.
Randolph wasn't the fastest, and he looked a bit wobbly at
times in the corners. Passing seemed to be a bit of a
problem. But so what?
For Randolph how fast he gets to finish line of these
four-lap races is only a minor concern.
"It really is. I am doing this to just have fun, and, boy,
is it ever a big thrill," Randolph said. "I can keep up with
all of the guys. But, yeah, I am still a little slow
sometimes, but occasionally, I pass somebody, which is even
more fun."
So what is Speedway racing? It's one of the oldest forms of
motorcycle racing in which high-powered, methanol-burning
bikes race four at a time on short ovals, fishtailing when
they speed through the tight hairpin corners. And the
motorcycles have no brakes. Crashing is common, and during
last week's race at Industry Hills, one rider lost control
in Turn 4, and almost ended up flipping over the wall.
"My goal, really, is not to fall off or crash," Randolph
said.
Randolph discovered the sport through his sons, Keith and
Lee Crecelius, but Randolph could never do more than watch
from the pits. He was too busy. After he left the fire
department, Randolph went to work for the Edwards Theater
chain, which was owned by the family of his wife, Joan.
"But then four years ago, they gave me an unrequested
retirement," Randolph said, referring to the family's sale
of the theaters.
So instead of sitting around, he decided to buy a Speedway
motorcycle. He took a few lessons, and in August 2004, he
signed up himself and his son, Lee, for a race at Costa Mesa
Speedway. That was Lee's first race in 28 years.
Lee won while dad fell on the last lap and finished last.
But Randolph has been riding ever since. He took a turn
working as a promoter when the Industry Hills series closed
in 2005. Upset that he had one fewer place to race, Randolph
pestered everyone he knew in the sport to step up and
re-open the place. But no luck. So eventually, Randolph, his
son Lee and former rider Kelly Inman began promoting races
at the track.
That lasted for two years (2006 and '07). His son and Inman
work full-time with the family's powder coating business,
and trying to run that and a racing series was too much, so
they decided to sell the series to Jeffrey Immediato and
Bruce Penhall, a two-time World Speedway champion. Now
Randolph is just a rider once again. And that's more then
enough for him.
"Better than an E-ticket ride at Disneyland," he said. "It's
really an exciting opportunity, and I am having a great
time."
